- Lorentz force — A moving charge in a magnetic field feels F = qv×B, always perpendicular to its velocity.
- Force on a current — A current-carrying wire feels F = BIL sinθ — the basis of every electric motor.
- Ampère's law — Use it for symmetric fields: a long wire gives B = μ₀I / 2πr.
- The magnetic force does no work — it only changes direction, never speed.
- Use Ampère's law for symmetric cases (wire, solenoid); Biot–Savart for loops.
